- generalized: use energy sources that are replenished faster than they are consumed
Free Energy
- utilize 'wasted' energy (need to clearly define what 'wasted' means)
- recover heat from roadways
- recover energy from internal combustion engines (BMW turbosteamer, thermoelectrics)
- recover heat from human activity (Swedish train station, walking)
- tap existing energy gradients
- ideally, replenish those gradients in the process (ground source heat pump draws heat in winter, stores heat in summer)
- tap day/night and summer/winter gradients
- use buffers to reduce variability (not sure this belongs here)
